Creating a Culture for Professional Women

By Caitlyn Benton

Earlier this month PWM Advice hosted a Ladies Networking event, founded by our very own Rose Hodgins, designed to create a culture for professional women. We had the pleasure of Alison Neville, a Family Lawyer of Blackwell Short Lawyers, speak during our lunch. Alison’s presentation was honest and inspiring, discussing things such as perspective, attitude, support, innovation, opportunity, and niche. Also how important it is to break down the barrier between men and women in a male dominated industry. We had just over a dozen professional women come and eat good food, share stories and ideas, as well as failures and successes. We plan to hold a Ladies Networking Event every few months, we are hoping to extensively grow this event and hopefully have a large group of professional women who reside in Orange and surrounding areas.

Thank you to these amazing local cafes.

We have recently teamed up with a few cafes around town to spread the word of easy financial advice. The Burrow: This funky little hole-in-the-wall café has a comfortable and fresh vibe. Offering a cracker breakfast menu and delicious coffee. Not to mention the very friendly staff. The Agrestic Grocer: This rustic country dream is a well established cafe and grocer, located just out of town in an old fruit picking shed. Offering everything local, from fresh fruit and veg, beer and wine, cheese and house made preserves.

The Coffee Club: You really cannot go wrong with these guys, with many Coffee Clubs scattered over the country, there’s no denying that Darren and his team have made this one stand out. Consistency is key, your coffee without a doubt will always be just how you like it. Groundstone: This beautiful hidden delight offers a lovely open plan design which allows an abundance of natural light, which would contribute to their collection of lush greenery. It just feels like home here. Katie and her team are wonderfully pleasant, and only the most serious Baristas are behind your morning brew.

Sustainability in the workplace: What you can do

Here at PWM Advice, we have decided to move towards a greener way of doing things. It is incredibly easy to start being more sustainable in the work place, here’s how.

  1. Implement recycling: As much as to most of us, this is a no-brainer, but not all workplaces have the resources to correctly recycle. For an easy guide to recycling, click here.
  2. Replace single-use items: If you’re a workplace that consume a lot of coffee, get keep cups for staff. And instead of plastic water bottles or cups, get some re-usable water bottles. If you’d like to purchase cups or bottles for your team, click here.
  3. Switch to eco-friendly lighting: This one is important especially if you work in an office. LED lightbulbs use less energy and don’t contain toxic gasses like other lighting alternatives. They also last up to five times longer!

Message from Rose

Thank you to our new clients that have only recently become apart of our business. And thank you to our ongoing clients who have stuck by us during this crazy year. We have a few available appointments coming into December, but be quick. I will be on holidays from the 18th December until January 12th.

Rose Hodgins,
